How small businesses can use AI for customer support
A practical look at where AI chatbots help, where they do not, and how to start without losing the personal touch.

Start with the questions you answer every day
Most customer messages are the same ten questions: opening hours, prices, delivery, bookings and order status. An AI assistant can answer these instantly, at any hour, on your website, WhatsApp and social media. List your top ten questions first, because that list becomes the assistant's knowledge.
Keep a human in the loop
AI is best at fast, repeatable answers. Anything emotional, complicated or high-value should pass to a real person quickly. A good setup tells the customer clearly when they are handed over, and shares the conversation so nobody has to repeat themselves.
Measure what matters
Track how many questions are answered without help, how long customers wait, and how many leads or bookings the assistant collects. Review the conversations weekly and fix any answer that was wrong or unclear. The assistant improves quickly when someone reads what it says.
Where to begin
Pick one channel, usually your website chat, connect your top questions, test it for a week, and then expand. You do not need a large budget to get a useful first version live.
